Human-Centred Education

Turning lived experience into learning.

HCHM's stories offer a window into healthcare from different seats at the same table. We're beginning to translate what patients and care providers share with us into practical educational experiences for healthcare learners, teams and organizations.

For healthcare learners and teams

We're developing story-based educational workshops exploring the everyday interactions that shape how care is experienced — including trauma-informed language, consent, agency, touch, communication and relational safety.

The focus is practical: how can these principles be woven into care without adding another task to an already demanding workload?

LANGUAGE · CONSENT · AGENCY · TOUCH

Our three principles:

  • Front-load safety

  • Use micro-moments, not extra minutes

  • Build the relationship before you need it

HCHM's educational work focuses on relational practice and the lived experience of healthcare. It is not clinical training in the assessment, diagnosis or treatment of psychological trauma.
